If you have ever been struck in any way or hurt physically when your partner was angry. Someone threatening to cause you harm may also qualify as being abused.
If your boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse has ever broken, or merely thrown, an object while he or she was angry, and you felt fearful this was also an abusive situation.
Verbal abuse is also abuse. Being asked to do things that you do not want to do or say things to others that you would usually not say.
If you are too scared to go home because of an earlier argument or altercation, this is also abuse.
If your spouse steals from you or makes you give him/her money or other items, this is abuse.
